First Days On The New Boat!

I go on Moira on the 31st of October and meet Thomas the skipper. We do some jobs on the boat and soon Franzi the other crewmember shows up. She moves in and while they continue doing some work on the boat I cycle to the post office to pick up a parcel. It turns out to be 20kg so i have to get a taxi and drop it off at the marina, then Franzi and Thomas jump in and we drop them off at the big supermarket and I go to fetch the bike.

After this first mission, the big food shop is coming up! We load up 3 trolleys full of food and are having trouble fitting it all in our bags and backpacks. We get a taxi to the marine with a grumpy driver and are happy to finally get there by 9 pm. I ended up missing all the Halloween action so my pumpkin costume did not get its time to shine. We then went for a late dinner and I went back to Wildest Dreams for my last evening.

On the 1.11. I moved over to Moira and we stowed away all the food from yesterday. Labelling it and making a list with what we have on the boat now. Lots of beans, that’s for sure! We are quite busy all day and go for gelato around 5pm and for a walk around town.

The next day on Saturday, the final crew member for this week, Mark arrives. In the meantime Franzi and I went to the fruit and veg market by the church to do some more provisioning and bump into quite a lot of people I met during my trip so far.

In the afternoon we leave the marina and head south towards playa blanca to anchor for the night. The programme for the first 3 days is quite busy and we are covering quite a lot of miles until we get to Tenerife, to then spend more time on the smaller islands of La Gomera and El Hierro, where Mark will leave us and Alex will join for the passage to Cape Verde.

The first sail goes well and we drop anchor in the dark in the south of Lanzarote, near playa papageyo.
