The first few days in Arrecife have been quite lazy. We went to town, explored, found a halloween shop where we got some costumes and decorations for the boat and saw some nice sunsets.
We visited our friend boats in the marina and I texted Thomas, the captain of Moira my next boat, that I was now in Arrecife because I knew that he had left her here so I was hoping to maybe get a glimpse! Tom is in Switzerland until the end of October and has left Moira here since the beginning of the month. Turns out she is on the same pontoon as our Australian friends and I also already got my first task as Moira-Crew and had to go measure something on the boom for Tom and check on the lines & fenders etc.
The boat looks amazing and I am looking forward to crossing the Atlantic on it!
We strolled through town and had hot chocolate, coffees, churros and went to the weekly market by the church where at midday, two guys did a sort of drumset on the churchbells which lasted for about 10 minutes and was quite impressive, despite the expression on the guy's face in the photo!
There is also a castle that was built to defend the city against pirate attacks that is just next to our anchorage.
Mostly the town is quite quiet and most shops close for siesta. Not on cruise ship day however. On cruise ship day (which seems to be Tuesday and Wednesday as far as we’ve seen at the moment), everything is open and the town is full, there are market stalls selling souvenirs popping up everywhere and hordes of very pale tourists of the older demographic are seen wandering about town. Most seem to be English, French or German.
