Passage Tanger to Rabat

We got to Rabat on Tuesday and after a long wait outside the harbour walls in choppy seas the pilot boat finally came to pick us and our little convoy of 5 boats up to guide us into the harbour. The marina is up in the river and the whole riverbed is very shallow and sandy and only a small channel is dug out deep enough for our boats. Entry is therefore only possible at hight tide since the differences between low and high tide are up to 2.5 metres.

--Waiting outside the marina // the boats in the shallow river en route to the marina // the kasbah in Rabat.--

Once we got into the marina we had to check in again, which again, took almost 2 hours.

We quicky made friends with our neighbor-boat who were also from Switzerland. They happened to have a spare Swiss flag on board so I finally also have a crew-courtesy-flag-thing to hoist. Apparently you are meant to carry your flag with you so you can hoist it on the boat and show what nationalities are present on board. The boat learning curve is quite steep for me at the moment but it is getting better and easier and more fun everyday.

Finally got a flag!
